Herbert West is my favourite Jeffrey Combs incarnation. West is promising young medical student that has a few theories of his own. He has discovered a serum that can give life to the dead. There is just one small problem, these re-animated beings are not your run of the mill slow aimless zombies that you find in most films, they are super strong, fast, and they have one goal in mind: kill everyone in their path. Along with his new roommate Dan Cain (Bruce Abbot)West goes on a rampage of re-animating every dead organism he can get his hands on. Trying desperately to perfect his serum. This is a great film full of gore and great one-liners.

I suggest that any Jeffrey Combs fan seek out both the rated and un-rated versions of Re-Animator. The un-rated version
has a lot more hard core gore, but less "plot". The rated version goes into deeper detail and cuts out most of the gore.
The rated version also has some scenes that you won't find in the un-rated version. If you are blessed with the power of DVD there
is yet another version for DVD that has another 20 minuets of footage, including a dream sequence that can't be found on tape.

If you can't handle gallons of stage blood and body parts flying every were than I strongly suggest that when you see this movie in the video
store that you keep moving and rent some thing like Steel Magnolias or Fried Green Tomatoes. For those of you with a true taste for the sick this is your movie!
