This has to be one of my all time favourite flicks. It has a little of some thing for every body. Although I would have a hard time classifying this movie as a "horror". It is not overly terrifying, if anything it is comical. It also has great special effects. It is the story of Frank Banister (Michael J. Fox), the resident ghost buster in the quiet town of Fairwater. Quiet that is except for the unusual deaths that have been occurring in Fairwater. Eventually the FBI becomes interested in this apparent health epidemic and sends Special Agent Milton Dammers (Jeffrey Combs) to cheque it out. Milton is a man of many issues, "I get all the fruity cases.", and believes that Frank is using his psychic powers to assist him on his murder spree. However, Banister knows that there are evil forced at work on the small town of Fairwater and is determined to destroy the evil, with or without the governments help. This is a film that I highly recommend, it is fast paced, humorous, with a dark twisted plot, and great effects.
Frighteners is directed by none other than Peter Jackson. Peter Jackson has brought to the screen many Cult Classics. Including, Dead Alive, Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, and Heavenly Creatures. All of which are definatly worth the price of addmission.
