House on Haunted Hill

I hate to report that Jeffrey Combs does not have a very large role. A few people I talked to didn't even recognize him. As Dr. Vannacutt he sets the stage for what should have been a great thrill ride, but turned out to be merely a vaguely amusing flick.

It may not have been the best horror movie I've ever scene, but it had its moments. It had an interesting cast of characters that worked very well together. There were one or two good scares and a good deal of gore in the beginning. I laughed out loud on several occasions (okay so maybe they weren't all laughing matters, but I found them humourous). Of course the special effects were fabulous, that's common place in today's movies.

One word of warning in my opinion that this movie must be seen in a movie theater or at a house with really good surround sound. One of the greatest features about this movie is its use of sound. I've never seen a movie take such full advantage of a theaters surround sound system. It makes you feel like you're really in there with them.

The best way to see this movie is to go with no expectations. If you are expecting a lot from this movie you aren't going to get it. If you are expecting nothing from this movie you'll get more than you thought.

A million thanks go to Crawling Chaos for this spectacular picture of Jeffrey from House on Haunted Hill.
